Our London office will be supporting Single Homeless Project with donations, such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, shower gels, shave kits (male), sanitary products (female), deodorants, shampoos and conditioners, towels (hand and bath), socks and underwear.
Single Homeless Project is a London-wide charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives. They provide support and accommodation, promote wellbeing, enhance opportunity, and are a voice for change.
They assist 7000 people every year, from supporting people in crisis to helping others take the final steps towards independence and employment.
One of the ways they support people affected by homelessness is by providing supported accommodation. These stays can vary from four weeks to two years.
Many of the residents of their hostel are facing multiple needs at once, including poor physical and mental health. Their hostel staff has been trained in Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE), ensuring that their hostel-based work addresses the long-term impact of adversity or trauma on their clients, as well as the psychological and emotional needs that follow.
