George Orwell once said, "Manchester is the belly and guts of the nation"... boy, was he right!
Manchester is a powerhouse when it comes to food and drink. Featuring key food spots from restaurants, bars, gastropubs, micro-breweries and coffee houses, Manchester has A LOT to offer. Suited for serious and casual eaters, the city promotes pop-up markets and caters to meateaters, veggies and vegans alike.
Manchester is well known for independent coffee shops so there’s plenty to choose from. Whether it's a single origin or special blend, oat or almond milk, icelandic coffee bar or cycling cafe you're after, Manchester is home to a booming coffee scene.
Manchester has an incredible nightlife and, in particular, a very famous music scene. We like to spend our spare time watching live music at Sound Control, a revived former musical instrument shop that is now a three floor live music venue! Manchester is also home to the UK’s longest indoor skiing and indoor snowboarding slope, Chill Factore , which has a 180m long real snow slope! A great way to exercise and have loads of fun!
There are 98 train stations in greater Manchester
Manchester was voted the best UK city to live in in The Global Liveability Survey 2015, beating London for the second year running.
Manchester is home to many music groups including Herman’s Hermits, Joy Division, and Oasis.
