LHi Austin exceeds charity fundraising goal for Austin Sunshine Camps

Every year, our global offices select a charity of their choice to support through fundraising and awareness initiatives. This year, our Austin office reached their charity target by partnering with Austin Austin Sunshine Camps to make a positive impact in their community. We caught up with our Austin charity chair, Vanessa Palazzi to hear more about what they’ve been up to.

Tell us a bit about the charity your office chose to support, why does it mean something to you?

Supporting ASC is deeply meaningful to our office because it allows us to give back directly to the Austin community. We wanted to partner with a cause where we could not only contribute but also show up in person to provide support. Having the opportunity to help children who are facing challenges such as financial hardships, disabilities, and more is incredibly important to us.

What was your fundraising goal, and how did you come up with that number?

Our 2025 yearly goal was $2,500. We chose this number based on last year’s efforts, we felt very confident we could push the envelope and surpass our goal.

Why did you pick this charity for 2025? What drew you to it?

• Direct Community Impact: ASC serves children in the Austin area, giving the office a tangible way to give back to their local community.
• Hands-On Involvement: ASC provides opportunities for volunteers to engage onsite, making the impact more personal and meaningful.

What’s been your favourite moment or the most rewarding part of working on this charity project?

Our favorite moment has to be going onsite to organize the camp facility before camp season! 

How did your team hit the target and make an impact in the community?

We had multiple fun events that helped us raise money! 

Our main ones were: Patrick’s day Scavenger hunt, our annual Kentucky Derby Nigh and a trivia night at a local bar

But we also had mini events such a pie a manager, pay day raffles, egg-a-mate, smell the sugar!

All the money raised will be able to directly support the children at ASC!

Did your team come up with any cool or creative fundraising ideas that you’d suggest to others?

Our St. Patrick’s day scavenger hunt was a hit! We ran a theme sales week which followed by a scavenger hunt around downtown Austin. The team were split in teams of 4, and it consistent of doing silly challenges across down whilst looking for the secret location where the pot of gold (Ciara & I) were hiding.

One of our small but successful activities was the ‘Pie Face Auction.’ Three brave volunteers had their faces pied for the highest bidder, making it a fun and memorable hit! We raised $140 in just couple of minutes. Botty was the highest bidder and Jack unfortunately paid the price!
