When Tom Glanfield founded LHi Group, then Lawrence Harvey, in 2002 he had a vision to grow a business that offered people the chance to make a difference to their personal and professional lives through the opportunities presented. With 50% of the Board starting out as graduates/their first recruitment role, he’s achieved this and more.    

The first international office opened in Munich, Germany in 2014 with German nationals at the helm bringing a whole new dimension to our life sciences offering.  

Del Connolly joined in 2015 to set up Harper Harrison, the first additional brand to Lawrence Harvey. With the creation of Harper Harrison, we now specialised in the Built Environment.  

Led by Mike Bott (now CRO), one of the longest serving LHi employees, a core team of exceptional recruiters relocated to New York City to open our first office in the United States. Joining Mike were two of our top performers, Mike Georgiou (now CSO) and Ben Richardson (now COO).

Knowing where to invest to build a sustainable business was always Tom’s strength and, in 2016, it was the perfect time to make the switch from Oil & Gas where we had previously specialised, to a more future-focused offering in Clean Energy.   

Rebranding from Lawrence Harvey Life Sciences to SciPro was the start of the business forming into four specialist, future-focused, independent brands. Stepping out from under the Lawrence Harvey brand allowed SciPro to really stand out and differentiate as a partner of choice within the life sciences industry.

With four separate brands servicing four different industries, it was an obvious, yet strategic move from Tom to create a parent company with its own employer brand. LHi Group was launched in 2016 and Lawrence Harvey, Harper Harrison, Piper Maddox and SciPro became LHi Group companies.

With the phenomenal success of the New York office, our second US office, this time on the West Coast, was opened in 2017. Jim Denning was relocated from the UK to build the LA offering into a high performing and culturally excellent office. Ben Richardson joined Jim from New York and went on, in 2019, to succeed him.  

2018 saw two more offices added to the LHi Group map. The first in Bristol, UK led by Tom Clarke and the second in Austin, Texas, led by Mike Bott. This would be the second time Mike Bott would start an office in the US from scratch. Mike Georgiou was promoted to head of the New York office.  

Appointing Jim Denning, a people first CEO in 2019, Tom handed the business over to be run by Jim and a predominantly organically grown board who understand and would uphold Tom’s commitment to people’s futures, ensuring that the values of making a difference were kept at the core of the strategy behind the growth of the group.  

LHi launches a specialist project delivery brand XPS, focusing on statement of work, with a team of CTO advisors and recruitment experts.  

In the Best Companies To Work For list, LHi Group were named #1 Best recruitment company to work for in London and placed 6th in the whole of the UK. 

Created over a two year period, the LHi company VISION was launched in 2021. Created by Director & Head of Marketing, Kim Pasteau, the VISION encompassed LHi Group’s ‘Identity’, ‘Purpose’ and ‘Mission’ statements.

Led by top performer from London, Stephen Earl, our second German office was opened in Berlin.   

Carmen Lamolda relocated from the UK to open the fourth office in the US in Miami. Carmen became our first female office leader.
