The LHi Passport Spotlight: A Shared Austin Adventure
At LHi Group, we’re all about embracing adventure, both at work and in life. That’s why, after five years with us, our people earn the coveted LHi Passport, giving them the opportunity to spend a week in any of our global offices.
It’s a unique chance to immerse yourself in a new culture, connect with colleagues across the globe, and experience life in another part of our growing community.
In line with our identity statement, “We are adventurous,” this benefit is all about exploring, connecting, and stepping beyond your comfort zone. In this series, we spotlight the stories of those who have recently used their LHi Passport and the impact the experience has had on them.
This time, we’re sharing a collective adventure, as Metjon Hyseni, Ben Ellison, and Avinash Ramrakka travelled together to our Austin office, diving into the city’s world-famous food scene, live music, and unforgettable Texas culture.
Which global office did you choose for your LHi Passport trip, and why?
Ben: Austin, Texas – we had been recommended by multiple people in the business as being the standout location to experience.
Metjon: I chose Austin, I knew I wanted to go to the US and was not sure which office to pick. After hearing about the barbeque and Jordans experience in Austin we decided to go with that one.
How was your experience? What were your thoughts on that particular office?
Ben: It was such a great experience!
Going from our largest sales floor to a smaller office was amazing, it reminded me of when I first joined London and the buzz about their growth was great to see, they are all great people and were so welcoming it made it a lot easier to integrate into the group.
Metjon: The experience was great, the whole team in office were super welcoming and the vibe in the office was great. It was a big change given we work in London and the Austin office was much smaller. I felt the team there were super close and I really enjoyed meeting them and sharing a few too many drinks on our last Friday.
Could you share some details about what you did during your time there?
Ben: We spent a lot of time exploring Austin’s live music and food scene which is out of this world, and topped the trip off by going to the Grand Prix and road tripping to Dallas for a Rodeo and some unbelievable hiking!
Metjon: We went to the formula one which was great. We tried a variety of different food spots including terry blacks and franklin barbecue. We also had a good few nights out on 6th street.
What was the most memorable moment of your experience?
Ben: The Formula One was amazing, but the BBQ restaurants and vibes of the bars are what’s stuck with me as the best part of Austin.
Metjon: Going to the formula one which was a bucket list thing for me.
What’s your top tip for someone preparing for their own LHi Passport adventure?
Ben: Make sure you choose an office that has something on offer you’d never get at home, and always extend your trip to enjoy some time exploring.
Metjon: Go to Austin! And just do it, I have seen quite a few people who are past their 5 years and have not used it.
