10 for 10 with Imogen Simpkin
At LHi, we love celebrating the incredible journeys of our long-standing team members. Our “10 for 10” series is all about recognising those who’ve spent an amazing ten years with us, reflecting on their experiences, standout moments, and everything they’ve learned along the way.
Through ten questions, we get a glimpse into their LHi story, from first impressions to career highlights, plus a few fun insights along the way…Plus, we’ll discover how they plan to use their ‘Gift of Time', a special reward for reaching 10 years at LHi, offering the choice between a month-long paid sabbatical or a luxury Rolex.
This time, we’re catching up with Imogen Simpkin, Senior Vice President, Commercial Strategy, Client Development & DEI Enthusiastas, as she celebrates 10 years at LHi, a journey that’s taken her across continents, built lifelong memories, and seen her grow alongside the business every step of the way.
What were your first impressions of LHi?
So much fun and opportunity, I had no idea what I was getting in to but it was such a good intro to recruitment.
If you had to pick one LHi moment, what has been your favourite over the past 10 years?
That’s super tough, potentially moving to the US and also the incentive trip to Iceland. I would have never have picked it as a destination (I’m afraid of the cold these days) BUT it was unreal from the people, to seeing the Northern Lights, genuinely such an amazing experience!
What advice would you give to your ‘younger you’?
Enjoy the journey! Recruitment is up and down but the downs never last long, so enjoy it 😊
What is your favourite thing about LHi?
The support for every pathway of development however linear or not, traditional or not. If you want to work hard, there will always be a place for you.
What are the biggest changes you’ve seen over the past 10 years at LHi?
Scale, structure and its been amazing to see more and more women in leading roles!
Where did you go with your LHi Passport 5 years ago?
I went back to London which meant that I was able to be present for my sister giving birth and meeting my nephew within days of him being born- super special moment!
What does the future hold for you at LHi?
Hopefully more of the same, the greatest thing about LHi is that you never know what is round the corner, what ideas you can be part of so very excited as to what the future could hold!
Who has been your biggest inspiration at LHi?
That is super hard to say because there’s been so many important people in my journey here at LHi. I will say that’s not many organizations who do truly believe in developing from C1 to C-suite so seeing those journeys across the business has been amazing.
What would you say to anyone thinking about joining LHi?
If you want to have fun and work hard, it’s the best place to be and will provide an amazing platform!
You have recently received LHi’s ‘Gift of Time’ – so the big question, will it be the luxury watch or one month’s paid leave?
I’ll be taking the month leave and doing some travel with family and friends, hopefully to South Africa, Japan and/or a baking retreat- maybe all 3, I do have a month!
